Two things I’ve been doing lately that have shown some success for weight loss are:
- Drinking coffee prior to an early vigorous morning 45 minute hike (without food until after exercising)
- Incorporating an aerobic workout 1-2 times a week. I do 45-minutes of Tabata (20 seconds intense, 10 seconds less intense)
As for coffee…
Coffee can increase the rate at which the body burns fat. Not only does it encourage the body to use fat stores, but it also may give you the boost of energy you need to get more active, compounding its fat-burning properties.
Whether or not you’re in the gym, coffee boosts your metabolism and may even increase your basal metabolic rate. A higher metabolic rate leads you to burn more calories, regardless of physical activity level.
As for aerobics…
This is the elixir that stimulates mitochondria in the body’s cells to wake up and function better. This is a necessary, key ingredient in any exercise program, whatever age.
It’s been 12 months now that I’ve done yoga which has increased my muscle mass. And good news this week… a study out of the UK has shown that isometric exercise reduces blood pressure more than aerobic exercise!
My personal phrase is…
Yoga cures everything!
