Science, Bernardo Kastrup, and Jeffrey Mishlove on Mind

From Scientific American…

“Physics Is Pointing Inexorably to Mind – So-called “information realism” has some surprising implications” By Bernardo Kastrup on March 25, 2019. LINK: (Scientific American Blog)

I’ve excerpted one paragraph arguing that, as ancient Eastern philosophies have always told us, “Life is an illusion”.

Where we get lost and confused is in imagining that what we are describing is a non-mental reality underlying our perceptions, as opposed to the perceptions themselves. We then try to find the solidity and concreteness of the perceived world in that postulated underlying reality. However, a non-mental world is inevitably abstract. And since solidity and concreteness are felt qualities of experience—what else?—we cannot find them there. The problem we face is thus merely an artifact of thought, something we conjure up out of thin air because of our theoretical habits and prejudices.

But, the above is coming from a scientifically based thinker, Bernardo Kastrup, who is willing to challenge today’s scientists to broaden their minds, and address the unanswered questions that are dismissed lest they discredit themselves from getting the next grant money, or from being revered in main stream media.

The article made me think of John 1:1, the first verse in the opening chapter of the Gospel of John. The verse reads, “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.”

This Biblical quote has left scholars searching to explain it over the years. Might we interpret it as consciousness, the Tao, or Christ Consciousness?

After reading the Sci-Am article, I went to Kastrup’s website and listened to the following interview by “New Thinking Allowed” with Jeffrey Mishlove, “Logic, Science, And The Meaning Of Life” with Bernardo Kastrup. This interview is very enjoyable and I am hopeful that Kastrup may be the bridge thinker to reach conventional scientists today. I was glad to see him address UFO, NDE, and other consciousness experiences into one category as others today are doing. One step further and he’ll pick up on those such as Pierre Teilhard de Chardin who tell us that the structure of the Universe is love.

If you wish to hear more interviews by Kastrup and Mishlove, they are on Mishlove’s Youtube channel.
