Practice: 8 Brocades Qigong Routine

People had their “Covid projects” during their isolation. Mine was to learn and do a daily qigong routine. I did that seriously for a full year, adopting the practices of Master Lin of Spring Forest Qigong. Time has lapsed and since then with other activities, I’ve come back to qigong doing this wonderful 8 minute video (below) daily. I agree that it has numerous health benefits and would be a good routine for anyone, especially the over-60 crowd.

What is the 8 Brocades Qigong practice?

This is a sequence of medical qigong meant to improve health. There are numerous benefits from the Eight Brocades Qigong Practice including improved energy, vitality, bone density, strength, flexibility, balance, coordination, and longevity to name a few. Also, 8 brocades is a great practice for reducing blood pressure, cancer support, thyroid issues, back pain, arthritis, and more. This practice is from the 1600’s when a general went around China trying to find the 8 best Qigong practices for his soldiers to heal and eliminate their fatigue.

The 8 Steps are:

  • Pushing Up the Heavens
  • Separating Heaven and Earth
  • Swaying the Head and Swinging the Tail
  • The Wise Owl Gaze Backward
  • Pulling the Bow to Shoot the Arrow
  • Two Hands Hold The Feet To Strengthen The Kidneys
  • Punching With Angry Eyes
  • Bouncing on Heels to Shake Off Stress and Illness
